About Us

The wholesale arm of our business, Silex Tools, has been importing and distributing quality tools to the horticultural, agricultural and aboriculture retailers in NZ for over 20 years.  We import direct from proven, reputable companies that are world leaders in their field, and stock a full range of spare parts and accessories. We would encourage you to view our stockist locator map and pop into your nearest store if you enjoy or prefer a physical retail experience. A number of those stores are specialists in their field and are able to offer significant advice regarding pruning for example.

If you prefer the convenience of shopping online however, this website aims to ensure you have everything at your fingertips. All of our tools are listed, as well as an extensive range of replacement parts, along with practical advice on getting the best out of your tools.

We are available by telephone during working hours on (NZ) 03 547 6874 or email us at sales@sharpr.co.nz.

Rod - our commander in chief and guru of all tools, took up mountain biking some years ago which has long been a standing passion, finally succumbed to the "e-bike" pressure (but quietly loves it). Would be out on his wing foil much more if;  a) there was wind more often, b) If Mark didn't take Fridays off, and c) if his "dodgy" knee permits!  Other interests include skiing, reading, and since 2025 is a member of the Motueka Search & Rescue.

Stu - looks after customer service, operations and social media/marketing, been with Rod for over 15 years now, has good knowledge of hand tools but not flash with anything mechanical (lol).  Interests include football and watching sport, is learning "to ride", and spending time with family...

Janine - deals with the financial accounts and online stuff and anything too (website) technical for the guys to sort.  Interests include sewing and anything in the outdoors...

Mark - the 'new boy', was in real estate and also worked for a building company, but semi retired and wanted something part-time to do, so now looks after the warehouse and processing orders. Interests are pretty much any sport, particularly football, classic cars, music, diy projects and tinkering in the garden...
